A Theoretical Analysis of the ROSE Economy
Or how to be a proper bourgeoisie.

First of all, this is not a get rich easy guide... those don't exist. Rather, this is a theoretical analysis of the ROSE economy, written by someone who has taken all too many classes that have not yet applied in real life at all. Hence, this.

Now, let's go over a couple of basic principles of economy. Anything produced through labor is a commodity. In the case of ROSE, labor means the time people spend hunting monster for drops, or the time they spend collecting drops to craft an item. Labor is done mostly by the plebeians, aka, the downtrodden minority on the shoulders of which stand those that can manipulate the commodities market. Hence, the next and most important principle of the economy.

Scarcity creates demand. If there is a lot of an item, even if a lot of people want it, chances are that most will get their share and the price will not increase. On the other hand, if the supply is limited, the price will skyrocket. In NARose a current example is materials for crafting wings... Nymph Powder went from 3-7k a piece to 20k a piece. Devil feathers and Lace are going up in price astronomically as we speak. Why? Cause their supply is low proportional to the amount of people that need it to make pretty devil or crow wings.

And here we get the next principle of the economy. Often times, the final end result is worth more than all the materials combined. Lets take butterfly wings as our example. It requires 20 nymph powders, 20 silver threads and 30 cloth. Now, assume the nymph powder costs 20k a piece, the thread 1k a piece, and you are using wool to craft the wings. The total price of materials comes out to about... 275k. Now, tell me, have you ever seen even the crappiest DR 10 butterfly wings for 275k? I bet the answer is no, even the worst are quickly sold for 300k. And if you have something with decent stats... a bazillion zuly.

Thus, here we get to the next point... liquid assets. If you want to be able to make money, you need a fairly sizable amount of money on hand at any time to invest. Here is where the syllogism "money makes money comes in". When you see a market you want to corner, I doubt the commodity suppliers will want to trade you for some sort of useless items they may or may not need but you have lying around.

So here is where cornering the market comes in. To illustrate how this works, I will provide an example. Say you are a get'em up entrepreneur with two million zuly and nothing to do. Reading this guide, you decide to play the market... by investing in futures. You see that firestones are currently being sold for 1k a piece because no one has a use for them at this point in time. You also look around and realize that 3/4 of the people in ROSE at this time are soldiers and hawkers... and you know firestones are used to craft high level soldier and hawker equipment. So, you spend your two million and up to a week buying every single firestone you come across, regardless of the price, be it 1k or 10k. At the end of this week you have several thousand firestones and no money. But guess what, the market has been completely stripped of firestones. What happens to their price? It goes up to 10-15k a piece. Most people don't realize that firestones won't have a use for another 50 levels and thus seeing how fast all of them went will price any that they get for way more than firestones are actually worth. Congratulations, you have just create d demand and crashed the firestone economy. Now, people get to level 12x and suddenly start to need items crafted out of firestones. Guess who has a huge stash, a stash you bought for mostly 1k a piece, that now goes for 15k a piece? That’s right, young entrepreneur, you. WIN.

So anyways, for all you wannabe bourgeoisie out there, live up to your class name, and play the economy, like your type was meant to!

Part 2

Okay, here is another thing that a fledging bourg should know... whats the deal with 'blue' items? A blue item, as they came to be called, were always around, and previously were titled 'prefixed' items, because they came with a prefix before the name. Here is what the prefix means in current ROSE. First, of all, all prefixed items take 5 levels off the ordinary level requirement. Second, prefixed gear can't be crafted, it can only drop from monsters. Third, it always has item appraisal, which means there will always be some kind of stats on it other than the ones that come with the item. Finally here are the specific prefix and what they give you.
Golden = Added MP
Grand = Added HP
Legend = Added Dex
Dark = Added A-Speed
Demon = Added Crit
Elven = Added Mp Recovery Rate
Saint = An extra 5 levels taken off level requirement.
Now, what does that mean for you? Generally, a well equipped person of below level 100 should be wearing all prefixed gear. Now, a tragedy. A bourg in NA rose has no prefixed gear until level 65... when they can get Saint Semiya Goods. So, a smart bourg will be equipped in all non class specific prefixed items. An even smarter bourg will learn to make money of selling prefixed goods. The key here is to know which stats are good for which class, and which item is rare and which item is dirt common. Lets take an example. Saint Iron Spears. These puppies are the best soldier weapon at level 40. So say you see a Saint Iron Spear with +6 int!!!! Now, take a moment and think... do soldiers even need int? Price accordingly. Now, on the other hand, you see a Saint Iron Spear with +10 Attack Power... bingo!

So, since we mentioned Saint Iron Spears, this will be a good time to discuss what happens when demand goes down, and what it means to have a top heavy economy. A top heavy economy happens when there is a significantly larger amount of high level players to low level players. Lets say that the majority of NAROSE players started playing as soon as the Open Beta opened. A dedicated player, is by now level 55ish. So, thinking hard now, what items have the most value? That's right, the items that most fit the average level of the ROSE player. A perfect example is the Grand Bears Paw, the best 5x katar... there are a hell of a lot of wanna be raiders, and very few Grand Bears Paws... thus each is around 1 mil zuly now. Now, back to the Saint Iron Spear. Just a week ago, they went like hot cakes! 100k, no, 150k, no... So you get one and price yours at 150k... and it doesn't sell. What did you do wrong? Elementary Watson. Most of the wanna be champs that we driving up the price of that weapon at level 6x now, and driving up the prices of the Saint Executioners or the Legend Tridents. Now if you remember my discussion of futures... what if you have lotsa capital now and buy the level 75 items before people are there? In 10 levels... zuly galore!
